Where to find our sanctuary

The Nguuni Nature Sanctuary is easy to access, situated off the Kiembeni Road - 4km from the Bamburi Cement Factory and a 10 minute drive from Bamburi beach. Just a stone's throw away from the hustle and bustle of Mombasa.

We recommend arriving by taxi or tuk tuk. Parking is also available but please note, roads inside the sanctuary are safari roads, so drive carefully and slowly! Nguuni is not liable for any damage to tyres or vehicles.

Remember, Nguuni is a wilderness area and therefore insects such as mosquito’s and ticks are present in the sanctuary - we suggest wearing appropriate trousers and bringing repellent along with you.

  • “A santuary within urban limits, atop a hill... Giraffes, water bucks, Ostriches roam free and as one visits this place, you can cut off from the city hustle and bustle and enjoy the serene animals as they feed during sunset and come and feed from your hands if you are willing. Small rustic shelters are propped up for visitors to enjoy their picnics or if they want to barbeque their packed foods.... the evenings are spent, sipping your best brought beverages, as the attendants light up a bornfire and you chit chat under the starry skies.”

  • “What a wonderful part of the world ,.. beautiful, helpful people, you get a real sense of how big this country is when you are out there among the grass and animals. With a decent pair of binoculars you can view the far away animals, but there are animals much closer that you can view , in their own natural environment , this was a totally awesome experience , one I would look forward to repeat anytime... Loved every minute.”
